Managing Director

David Cohen has been Managing Director and Principal at Matheson Financial Advisors since 2006 after Exit Strategy Management, a consulting firm he founded, merged with Matheson Financial Advisors. David brings over a decade of experience in consulting clients on ownership transition, business valuation, financial management, and mergers acquisitions.


Before establishing Exit Strategy Management, David was a shareholder with another industry consulting firm as part of it's Financial Advisory Services group. David has completed business valuation assignments, merger and acquisition engagements, and internal ownership transition and succession planning assignments, Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), and litigation support engagements. Throughout his experience, he has supported clients with all facets of ownership transition planning and advised clients through the mergers and acquisitions process.


As an expert in financial advisory services, David conducts seminars on financial management, valuation, and ownership transition planning for the design industry. He also leads in house educational presentations for firms nationwide and speaks at ACEC national and state conferences.


David is a graduate of the University of Miami, Florida with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting. Additionally, he holds his Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law, is licensed to practice in Florida and Massachusetts, and previously practiced law in class action litigations, commercial proceedings, and civil actions. David has received the Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designation and is a member of the American Society of Appraisers. David holds the Series 63 and Series 79 securities registrations and is a registered representative for M&A securities transactions that are offered through Mclean Securities, LLC (Mclean, VA) member FINRA/SIPC.
